Super ideas.
I've made a few salads to take to work, hubby has brought a bunch to work to share ( as have I) I'm down to 1 box and will probably pickle most this weekend.
At the moment, I have no place cool to store them. We've got a few cabinets which are dark enough, but we have no basement and we heat with wood in the winter. Our house is completely open downstairs ( with a large loft for a half floor upstairs) and the temperature rarely drops below 75 when it's heating season. We found out the hard way our first year here that even storing in the lower cabinets in the winter, things just aren't cool enough.
The good news, however, hubby's been hand-digging a root cellar for us. He's ready to pour the floor and is hoping do get it done in the next few weeks ( he works nights, so, it depends on weather, and who he can coordinate schedules with for help). It probably won't be completed til next summer, so I'm not planning big canning or storage projects until next year!
