I let dandelion run rampant in my garden at our old house. I made tea, jelly and wine. I even sent a bottle of wine to nyboy. :rainbowflower He served it to some of his friends. I sent dried petals for tea to Carol. I have scattered seed here from my old house and Carol sent me seed from her home. Some have come up and the sheep gobble them right up.

On my phone, I’ll get on the laptop and find all my old threads and post links.

This is where I found out that my dandelions growing in my garden weren't dandelions at all, but a closely related cousin. LOL LOL

@Ridgerunner also made dandelion jelly before they moved. He's in town now, i'll bet his neighbors wouldn't appreciate him letting loose a bunch of dandelions. LOL LOL

You are exactly right. It's a problem with living in town, you need to maintain community standards out front. And what little I left grass in the back yard is the dogs' bathroom. To me that would be off limits for jelly or tea.

A use for the better/larger roots is to wash, roast and grind. 50:50 with ground coffee beans, they are an almost indistinguishable substitute in a 50% decaf!

Thought about mentioning that and this, in Thoughts for Day thread: I used to dig the dandelion plants from my lawn, put them in a bag, and microwave them for a minute or 2. The hens would eat every bit of them!

I don't care for dandelion tea, but I am a tea snob and can't stand anything that isn't Lipton.
I'm about to venture out for some crimson clover. Maybe that'll be better. You can freeze the dandelions into ice and add them to a bevarage. My kids love that!

Now dandelion jelly, that is. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!
