Decorating with flair!

Red its ok the put a area rug down over carpet. My livingroom had wall to wall, I put a large area rug down under sofa and 2 chairs to tie seating togather. Many people think area rugs can only be used with hardwood or title floors.
Pictures? My carpet is sculptured rather than an even level so I'm not sure how that would work.

I agree with NYboy about the area rugs. I had one under my dining table, on top of carpet, to define the dining area. which it shares with the LR space. The fact that this house came with a carpet that was charitably described as "claret" by the realtor and we grew to refer to as "wretched" helped speed up the tile installation. All the floors are now ceramic except the bedrooms, but since we're mostly in there when it's dark and our eyes are closed anyway, it's not too big of a burden.

Moxies any idea whats behind the ceiling ? Durning the 70s when everyone was worried about energy, people put in false ceilings to save heat. You might have a foot or 2 under the ceiling.

The house is a 1952 Jim Walters home. 24'x30' tiny tiny rooms...no inside bathroom included. Back in 1952, indoor plumbing didn't exist in rural SC. We have been up in the attic, in the crawlspace under the house. I could make my own thread just showing the pics of the house as we bought it. :ep

Yes, they removed the interior walls to open up the space. Then added the beam held up by the posts ...covered with the exterior metal columns.

Sorry I hijacked your thread Red. I was just posting a pic for entertainment purposes only.
