Did I Kill Them ?

Last night while at a big box store I picked up 3 packages of cannas. Some how when unloading my car I missed the bag they where in. In the morning when I found them it was 17 degrees, would they die being in cold car all night?

Bummer...I would doubt they survived it. I killed mine this winter, forgetting to move them out of my unheated sunroom on a single digit night. You'll know for sure if they turn to mush.

Geez, don't you hate when you do that?? I am always paranoid I will leave groceries in the car and they will freeze...I just remembered that I forgot to dig up my cannas in the fall- so I will need to buy new ones this year. Fingers crossed, that yours will make it.

I did eventually find it. I figured a week was pushing the limits of edibility- or survival.

Ugh. Hubby left my heavy cream in the car overnight a few weeks ago - LUCKILY it was just right temps outside that night - didn't freeze, was plenty cold when he brought it in the next morning that I felt safe using it in my coffee. Pshew!

I think they'll turn mushy pretty quickly if they froze.

Put them in potting mix and hope for the best. Maybe there was enough protection.

A week of cheese in the car! Haha, hope it wasn't Limburger!

At certain temps my truck is reminiscent of the Cheesemobile. I spilled some milk on the upholstery when I picked up my gallon from the farm (rough road!). Probably the same gallon that I dropped on the kitchen floor...

Only one way to find out, plant them and see what happens. I know how to make everyone want to me. Ummmm....... cannas grow like weeds here and never heard of digging them up for the winter.

Thanks guys I don't feel so bad now, seens like everyone has done it. Part of me wanted to just return them, but I didn't want someone else buying them. Going to just plant and see what happens.
