Or do you feed the dog food that is requested by the dog owner ? :idunno What do you feed your own dogs and why ? :hu Everyone else chime in too as to what you feed yours and why ! :caf Go ahead and name the brand name of dog food for our benefit ! ;)

We feed a non corn based diet. Why? Our dog is allergic to corn...... sensitive to molds in corn.

I feed the very cheapest dog food I can buy...get it from Rural King and it's "Good Friends" brand. Get 40# for $11. NOT the "natural" dog food from that brand, but the good ol' fashioned grain based crapola.

Two big dogs and they can make that bag last over a month.

The dogs thrive on it, along with all the other foods they get here that is more natural~raw meat, bones and offal in hunting season or from fresh road kill deer and chicken butchering, any game they catch, garden excess, kitchen scraps, fresh eggs they find or are given, fruit from the orchard, etc.

Our dog (a mostly yellow lab rescue dog) got very fussy in her old age. She now gets Trader Joe's kibble mixed with cottage cheese for breakfast and a mixture of chicken drumsticks, brown rice, sweet potato and butternut squash for dinner.

It's not too bad to make her food. I put the drumsticks in water in the slow cooker. When they're done I take them out and steam the rice in the broth. When that's done I put the veggies on top and by that point the meat on the drumsticks is cool enough to remove from the bones and add to the rest. When the veggies are soft I just stir it all together.

The slow cooker does all the work and I can make enough for 7-10 days at a time.

Mine gets Pure Balance grain free. It's Walmart's premium brand. Salmon and pea is what she eats, and seems to do well.
There is a website dedicated to testing all the petfoods, will analyze their contents and rate it. No payment from the various companies. Worth checking out.

My parents would die at the price of some dog foods. Our family dog ate what was on sale that week. Dog foods have come such a long way, there are stores that carry nothing but dog food. 70% of my clients bring in their own food, everything from raw chicken to homemade mush. What I used to feed kennel and own dogs was Low residue, which they stopped making. So now I feed science diet sensitive stomach and skin. about $45 to $50 a large bag

Dieter eats 'Taste of the Wild' (32% protein) & raw beef (usually sirloin or eye-of-round).
