Don't Mean to Brag - OK Maybe I Do...

DS helps an older couple on their little farm. He only grows hay now, but they have a big garden and fruit trees and DS told me last year we should thin the apples and I didn't want to do it and after the apples grew and were small, he said, I knew we should have thinned the apples. DH thinned the tree so much that I am not sure we will get very many, but I will let DS do whatever he wants to the tree.

If you don't get any apples this year, might not be caused by over pruning but weather. Apple orchards by me freaking over low chill hours and late frost between 2 going to be bad year for apples.

I have a Honey Crisp that I bought last fall. I thought for sure it would bloom at least a little and give me a couple of apples. But nope, didn't bloom at all. Yet my new peach and nectarine are doing fantastic. Had to thin lots of fruit. I sure hope I don't jinx myself. :hide

My Honeycrisp bloomed for the first time this year, and so did the other apple I planted across from it at the same time. (I forgot what that one was is.) They're at least six year old semi dwarfs.
Some trees just take several years to mature enough to fruit.
But I'm super excited that they are finally starting to produce! :ya

We are having good weather, but I did not see a lot of blossoms on it this year. It is a Pixie Crunch. I have a Sundance that is 7 years old this year and had a few blossoms. The neighbor's tree is 40 years old and looked like a snow storm of blossoms, just covered. It will be interesting.

I didn't mean "haha" you won't have apples, just haha.

After thinking about it more I think I planted mine 8 years ago, so it has been a long time.
It took my driveway root stock apples about 8 years to bloom also, but I have a little Zestar apple that had an apple the year I planted it. I removed it because the little tree was just a stick. But it had several blooms this year. This is the third season for it. It's still just a stick though.

What? Eight years? My daughter also bought one. Wait till I tell her that.

@digitS' , are Nyboy and Thistle telling me the truth? Please tell me they're wrong. :hitIf so, it's coming out! I have no patience for 8 years.
