Are any of you going to make any food gifts for Christmas presents. I always do baskets for my bosses of some of my canned things (Salsa, pickles, etc.) but was trying to come up with some new things to add in.

I'll have some Christmas baskets with Sweet Pepper Relish, Sweet Pepper Jam, Seedless Blackberry Jam, Peach Jam, Plum Chutney, Peach and Plum Chutney, Apple Buttter, Oregano, and Basil. For people I like I may add some Sage. I'm debating whether to include Dried Tomatoes. Maybe a 4 ounce jar?

Wow! you are gererous!!! I'm not, I am stingy.....rubs hands together.......MINE! ALL MINE!! ..........BWAHAHAHA!!!!! :lau

This year I'm doing jarred goods and cookies as usual... but I'm thinking of adding pretty bags of seed I save from the garden too. I'm planning on looking for clearance pots at the stores and maybe making the basket as an actual pot for them to grow the seed in. Trying to trick people I love into gardening! lol

We give canned pasta sauce and salsa. If you're high on the list, you also get a honey bear from our hives. This year I made a bunch of zucchini candy, so maybe I'll include a bag of that. Our family gets really excited about our food gifts. We've also done other homemade things like rice pillows and knitted hats and scarves. We just got a loom, so maybe next year we'll do some rag rugs.

I like the idea of seeds and a little pot....

All of you are giving such nice homemade gifts. Everything I get is store bought. :( My friends just don't get it. They don't understand why I garden, have chickens, and can my salsa when you can buy everything at Whole Foods! They say buy organic if you're concerned about the quality of your food. It's so much more than that.

Wow! What great gift ideas all!

I forgot to mention. I have also been saving my grain bags all spring and summer. I am going to make some of those grain bag/shopping bags and put the gifts in them. Maybe find a Christmassy bow to tie on. That way, the wrapping is a gift in itself. :D
