I watched Gasland, to say the least, it gave me nightmares. I was very overwhelmed with helplessness, but what can you do? You know they are still raising beef out there. When you can light a fire from the water coming out of your kitchen faucet, do you really want to eat a cow that's been drinking that water since birth?

There was a spring on my property in Oklahoma. It was locally famous for its reliability. It never faltered even in the dust bowl years when water sources were scarce. They fracked a well a couple of miles away and it hasn't flowed since then.

The short sightedness of this is utterly amazing!!! We can live without gas, a lot easier than we can live without water! Poison food, poison water- difficult to keep any kind of optimism going....

OH, I don't know about that. Some of my "friends" only want to hear ABOUT the good things....like rainbows and flowers. They say that other "stuff" has nothing to do with them.

Some of them are now sitting home without jobs and healthcare and they are still saying that that stuff has nothing to do with them. BOY! ARE THEY GOING TO BE SURPRISE WHEN THAT OTHER SHOE FALLS.

Why just the other day, a shoe fell on a friend's head. She is now living in a trailer somewhere ........out there.

She took early retirement because she could not find a job and did so in ignorance of being paid less for early retirement. There is no going back once you have done this. One has to bite the bullet sometimes to achieve ones goals.

In her wisdom, she has chosen a spot in the coldest part of the United States ...right next to a river where she has parked her NEW home. Tada!

Then there is stupid me, for the past twenty-five years, I have put her on a pedestal in an ivory tower because I thought she was the best and smartest person in the world because she and her x-husband were both making soooo much money..why they just HAD to be smarter that I was because they were making ALL that money. She was making buku bucks even when she was not married to this guy.

Now as for old dumb old me, I read, and read, and I read some more trying to figure out why I was where I was at and what I need to do to protect myself. Rainbows be darned. I bought my home 25-years ago and I had to forgo all the fancy stuff like all my friends had. A roof over my head was important and I sometimes worked two jobs and through many lay-offs to achieve my goal. . AM I GLOATING? Ya betcha!
