Lily the Welsummer started crouching just as we were getting ready to leave for a week's vacation. :he We had friends chicken sitting while we were gone but I hoped she would wait to start laying until mommy...I mean until I got home. :fl

Not only did she not wait, neither did Ruby the RIR! This is what our friends collected the week we were gone:

Then a few days ago I was outside, bent over taking some pictures of the garden bounty...

...and someone decides to fly up onto my back, crawl up to my shoulder and make themselves comfortable!

This was a couple seconds before Lily decided to peck me HARD on the cheek. OUCH. :barnie

And please excuse the sweaty, messy hair!

Thanks for looking!

Wow. I'm so jealous! Here in Wyoming I have 3 cherry tomatoes, a handful of strawberries, rhubarb, radishes and 2 peppers. I need to move to a different climate with a true summer. Maybe some day

Your harvest looks lovely -as do you and Lily. Aren't first eggs incredible. There is always something magical in a perfect egg! What are those purple beans? Do they have a different flavor than green beans? Enjoy all of your bounty!

Thanks for all the replies!

Lesa, do you mean the long, skinny beans? They were the first two I picked and I hate to admit I haven't tasted them yet! I probably should let them get a little bigger too. Supposedly they are best sauteed:

Those are some huge Jalapenos. Mine wont grow that big. I need to do a soil test to see what I am missing.

Hi Kathyschix! :frow

Great pictures -- now I want to know what the other bean is --the creamy one with the purple speckles? I would love to grow it -- how does it taste?

You could make a great vegetable fritatta with those vegetables along with the eggs! :drool
