Garden Hose End Protection From Corrosion or Lime Scale

One of the troubles I have with (some) hoses is if the end swivels too much and I can’t screw a spray nozzle on tightly enough because it just twists the hose end around and around instead of screwing onto it. Sometimes I am able to get it on all the way with no leaks, but other times it drips or sprays.

As I’m writing this it just occurred to me that maybe I could use one of @ducks4you ‘s hose end reinforcers on the troublesome hose, use pliers to get that to crank down properly, and then once it was on I could leave it there permanently and hope that the end of that piece doesn’t swivel when I put the spray nozzle on and off. 🤔

So, cut the end off. As far as I can feel, I need to cut 4 more inches, if not blown all the way through. Idk yet.

Anyway, that dark collar under my thumb, that ALWAYS rusts and snaps. Always.

Oh, I need these tips. I've ruined so many heavy duty hoses by keeping them together.

I gave up and use anti-seize, its maybe 1 step ahead of anti-oxidants like silicone plumbers grease. The pot metal galls to other metals, or its aluminum welding itself to a dissimilar metal etc. They are all too soft to force open without destruction after (ahem) a few years. I keep them in metal boxes. Away from the sun, and once a year I unroll them, wipe them with silicone spray and silicone grease the little side to side roll up guide mechanism. I lost a length this year to my DW leaving it across the driveway, but a new hose every 5 years is not too bad. Those rubber washers are magical in their ability to disappear though. Becky will absolutely take the hose end off and in the tossing around the washers get lost
