White technically accurate, I really think they could have picked a better adjective when considering produce than "old"
 
not too bad an idea if you are hydroponically growing stuff in a green house. with the IV lines you can set the speed at which the stuff drips into the pots. if they had the lactated ringer (bags of a solution they give you when you need fluids at hospital) attached to each one of those i would really believe a nurse or Dr took up gardening!
 
They sent us home with a bag full of stuff when Savannah came home from the hospital. I guess we must have already paid for it anyway. I've used the syringes and IV lines to pipe water into my incubator.
 
Last time my DH had a GI scope done, I was tempted to grab all those tubes the nurses threw in the trash after they unhooked him. I'm sure they would have come in handy for something.
 
yes, you can get the tubing at the pet stores, but the connector 'punch' which has a sharp end to poke into the fluid bag may be a little harder to find by itself. you can get the IV admin set fairly cheap from a vet supply store or ebay if someone really wanted to.
