Thought y'all might like to see some of my garden pictures. I haven't been active on here for a long time because last year I broke my leg and was unable to do anything in the garden. I am so excited this year, everything is looking beautiful.

Squash bed (straight neck yellow, zucchini black beauty, and burgess buttercup) You can see the corn coming up nicely on the other side of the garden fence.

Beets, cucumbers, bell peppers, and dragon tongue beans.

Cucumbers, onions, swiss chard, bell pepper, and romaine lettuce. (replacing lettuce with contender beans)

Garden gate with Triofo Violetto pole beans and green peas.

Close up of the smaller pathway bed with a Chadwick cherry, marigolds, sweet potato, and a sunflower. Little bit of "hot" wire that is not "hot" is only to deter the dogs and chickens who know what "hot" wire is. It works.

The pathway was created by my husband after I broke my leg. This is where I fell in the yard, it has a little slope and with the mud after raining for months last year I slipped and broke my leg at the ankle. 12 weeks laid up in the bed non-weight bearing was enough to drive me crazy. I went overboard this year with planting because of missing so much last year.

Wait!!! I just read the caption on the 2nd post! It describes the scene of an accident . . . So sorry, hangin'! I'm very glad you are better and have a very nice 2014 garden.

Welcome back! How awful to have a broken leg, but even worse to not be able to garden! Everything looks very vigorous and healthy, you're way ahead
of me.

Do you think I will need to support those rattlesnake beans? They are supposed to be bush beans, but they are almost thigh high. Now that I think on it, I believe they are dragon tongue beans, not rattlesnake.

What I have done with unruly bush beans is to drive 3' stakes in about every 6' to 8'. Going right around the bed, Hangin'.

Run bailing twine from stake to stake. I can even tie short strings across the bed if the staking isn't real sturdy.

The plants are heavy as they load up with beans but somewhere along when they are in full flower, they will stop going up and up! Best to have a little taller stakes if a second string is needed.

Yes, I can easily add bamboo stakes and string them in. There is one little pepper plant that is stunted because of the beans shading him out. I just didn't realize bush beans got thigh high?

So sorry to hear of your accident- bed rest during gardening season- that must have been torture. You certainly have made up for it this year! Enjoy your garden and be careful!

Enough of the horror stories, @hangin'witthepeeps! I live in fear of getting hurt like that. So pleased that you are back in good form and working on that beautiful garden. Looks like you're in for plenty of delicious harvesting this year.
