Drove home on icy roads last night, sans milk, bread and eggs of, course, and had a great time doing it. Unlike most folks, I kind of like driving in the snow, especially if I'm driving a 4WD with good tires. Something about the beauty of it all, the excitement and possible adventure of what could happen, the challenge of it, maybe. Been doing it since a teen on some very bad roads here in WV(twisty, slipped, potholes, narrow, high shoulders, you name it) and it never gets old to me, no matter how often I'm out there. Everywhere is far from here~work, town, schools, etc.~so one grows used to the inevitability of driving on snowy roads and it becomes old hat, in a manner of speaking.
What's funny is my 81 yr old Ma feels the same way and she just got her DL at the age of 75. Dad never let her get them before then, but we encouraged it and she did it...and now she drives these roads like a pro.
Oh, where was I going with all of that? Hmmmmm.....well...the reason we went to town was to drop a car off at the shop and visit with family. Visited all day until after dark and then slid home. Son was also visiting and just had a small ways to go to return home, did a 180 right in the middle of town..woohoo!!! Fun times. Glad he didn't hit anyone, though. Most people had the sense enough to stay at home.
