I bought a shrub at an auction that had no id tag. It has smooth gray or silverish, smooth bark. The leaves are dark green, shiny and kind of thick (like a camelia). Some of the leaves are starting to turn bright red. I live in North Carolina. Does anyone know what it is?

Hi,
Does not look anything like any azalea that I've seen. Leaves are very different and bark is silvery-gray. Thanks for the input and the greatings from Eastern Wa.

Okay, three people think this is an azalea. It does not look like any azalea I have seen or have in my yard. If it is an azalea, what kind is it?

I don't know what kind of azalea it is. But the reason I know it's an azalea is that my son that lives in Savannah Georgia has these in his yard.

I am going out on a limb here and say its NOT an Azalea.

At least the ones I recognize growing up in Oregon, it looks nothing like an Azalea to me.

Just throwing that idea out there...........
