I made this last weekend & I meant to post it for vfem (who loves both strawberries & Balsamic vinegar
It's really tasty but then I love strawberries with just black pepper ground over them -- much better than all that sugar & cream stuff -- & healthier..........!!

. I guess I can try it - there's a nice malt vinegar on a lower shelf, maybe that would be a good enough choice.
........!! NO SUBSTITUTIONS, NO, NO, NO malt vinegar!
Good Balsamic vinegar is unbelievably good. It's aged in barrels for twenty (or more) years. The kind you buy from the supermarkets isn't first quality I'm afraid. I suspect you could just get away with a very good sherry vinegar but I have never tried it.
