whatever it is it appears it had flowers that were on a stem during it's previous year of growth. do you remember seeing it flower? if you do what was the color or shape of the flower?

Did it have a yellow, dandelion-like flower? How tall is that old flower stalk and about how wide the clump? It reminds me of Elecampe but I don't think that's it, different growth pattern. First year plant or in same/similar family maybe?

I honestly don't remember! The woody stem looking things have "leaves"?? They're fairly tall, maybe 2' tall? Maybe a little shorter. I have no idea what it is... but I don't know what it is.. but I'm thinking I might pull it??

I'm thinking Elecampe then. :) Medicinal introduced from Europe, no showy flowers or anything. Growing in your flowers like that, you're going to want out of there.

If I do happen to be right, and you are interested in medicinals - there's probably more of those plants growing somewhere nearby so it would be of no great loss.

While I do love shastas, I don't think this is one. Maybe though! The stalks are WAAAAY too tall, but they could have been from something else? I did have Shasta in a pot, but they wouldn't have come up and been that big already.
