Adequate protein always seems to be a serious issue with malnourishment. How the people can deal with that when simply getting enough calories has to be an overriding concern is a tough nut to crack . . .
Cash crops like coffee become a 2-edged sword. The people can't eat it - coffee has to be sold :/. Hopefully, it will command an adequate price from year to year and middle men don't claim too much of the value. And, there must be food that can be purchased.
It is quite a dilemma . . .
