Hawk Photos

The Hawk is now coming to the birdbath several times a day.
It appears to like cooling off it's feet in the nice cool water.

There may be a pair of them.

I got one of it taking off

I missed a great photo last week... I came out the back door, not really paying any attention, just in time to see it take off from not 10 inches away from the new chick enclosure!! If I had looked out before opening the door, I would have had a great photo of the Hawk studying the chicks!

That's really neat! I love hawks and eagles as long as they leave the chickens alone.

I am not sure, we have several types of hawks here in AZ. It might be a Cooper's Hawk. It is smaller than a Red Tail.

Sharp-shinned or Coopers Hawk.

It is an Acciper sp, not a Buteo.

It is not a red-tailed hawk, which comprise 95% of all hawks sited in the US

Oh, very big fluffy white rump, which helps to ID it as a Cooper's vs. a Sharp=shinned Hawk.

He really does look kind of silly soaking his feet!! The mourning doves do that at my birdbath, it always makes me smile! Great action photo of the bird leaving. Keep an eye on those chicks, I am sure they look delicious!
