welcome @MagicMama from mid-Michigan. :)

one tip i have for anyone starting on property and gardening. make sure you keep your trees small. eventually it can sneak up on you, your light is going and you realize you have to pay someone to take them down if you want your light back.

it hasn't snuck up on us here, i asked years ago to take down a few of the trees while i could still do it myself, but was over ruled...

Hey there, and Welcome! I like your dirt, too!
I was just wondering, are you planning to free range your chickens and ducks? They are great at eating ticks, grasshoppers and other lawn/garden insects, along with the guineas. But I discovered the hard way that they (particularly the chickens) will destroy a young garden, and they love to peck tomatoes. So I had to fence the garden in; it also helps keep rabbits out.
Lots of folks keep the chickens out till they have finished gardening in fall, then let the chickens in to do clean up.
