Hi, I'm Cinthia and unfortunately due to a big move from the west to the east coast of Canada now I have to start my garden project from scratch. I have a good size of balcony although winter is almost here :p. I like succulents the most so yeah that makes it easier. Before Canada I lived in south Texas so northeast Canada winter will be an adventure to me :D.

I'll be reading if not all at least most of your introduction threads to get a better grasp on the members. Thank you for allowing me to join this community

welcome from mid-Michigan.

always quarantine new plants and carefully inspect for bugs and diseases. as a kid i had a nice cactus collection until i got one with scale on it and never could get rid of that afterwards.

Wow, talk about culture shock! We moved to Wisconsin from Southern California when our children were in their teens, it was a tough transition & they haven't completely forgiven me yet. May Winter be gentle with you this year.

And welcome to TEG! :frow

That is quite a leap from south Texas to Canada! Why the move? Job?
I’m in east Texas. Where in south Texas were you?
What will you grow in your garden?
Hubby and I always wanted to go north NORTH :)...... we visited a few times Canada and we loved it!! so we started our migration process a couple of years ago. First we lived in BC for a couple of years but because the cost of living (specially housing) we decided to move to the east coast. Prices are way affordable but winters are harsher... you can't win them all I guess 😅. Although according to locals, temperatures these past years (particular this one) are nothing like they used to be..... less than 2 weeks ago the weather was perfect for a beach day and surprisingly the beach we went to was packed.... so I guess I have climate change to thank to for milder winters. But yeah, British Columbia housing prices are crazy crazy high, you don't even wanna know.

We were in the RGV, yeah, a place where many Texans don't consider it south Texas but something else.... hehe I get their point tho, it's more of a border area.

According to what we've seen, climate change has made things easier.. so I got that going on 😆
