Hen and chicks -- who knew?

Okay, I opened my eyes to look. Many of the varieties are actually sedum. I knew there were many, many sedum varieties. Still, I need a collection of hen and chicks for the rock garden I want behind the workshop.

I thought hen and chicks are illegal to grow? I hope I'm wrong, because they're fantastically beautiful and I'd love to grow some myself! :)

Red, have a look at this catalog :drool https://simplysucculents.com/online-catalog/
I have a few Sempervivums and Sedums and some of the tender succulents, I visit a little garden center (W.I.G.) on the mainland each spring that specializes in succulents, they have an extensive selection of hens and chicks, sedums and the more tender succulents. A few examples of their plantings

This last picture is a basket I put together with their starter plants. I have quite a few of the tender succulents I keep in the greenhouse, be careful they are VERY addictive;).

Many years ago I grew hens and chicks in my flower beds. I think maybe I should bookmark this link. I will have to build flower beds, but eventually I would like to have a pretty yard.

All of the hens and chicks I have had over the years eventually died out. Some that were supposed to be winter hardy weren't.
