We never buy meat at the store anymore. I raise a lot of our vegetables, but still buy from the store. Our soil is sand, like beach sand. We have worked hard on our garden soil. We moved here 3 1/2 years ago.

We have 4 horses, 3 dogs, 10 sheep, 30ish chickens, no pigs at the moment, but both freezers are full. LOL

With so many animals soil building should happen pretty quick! Get yourself some rabbits... They produce great manure that doesn't have to be composted...you can plant straight into it! My rabbit herd started with just one pair of rabbits, but after I used their manure in just one raised garden bed I went out and bought six more rabbits. Then after I realized that the rabbit meat I was producting was costing me roughly 35¢ per pound, I brought in another eight. Rabbits are awesome!
