How many spaces do you add?

When writing something digital such as an email, how many spaces do you add after each period? One or two?

If you answered two, everyone will know you are definitely "older" because only us folk who have used a typewriter do that! Lol! I just learned this! How funny!

Two spaces. I'm older than dirt. (Text editors irritate me when they excise one of the two spaces I have deliberately left between sentences, but there seems no remedy for it. Witness this message, my extra spaces were obliterated without my consent. Code for these programs was written by youngsters, and what do they know? Haha.)

I really appreciate “some” of todays technology but from time to time want to treat it like my old friend Pierce did when the 51 chevy pickup got his goat while changing the GENERATOR belt!

2 minutes worth of chopping smiles in the hood of that truck with a hoe made all the difference in the world. I’ll not repeat the verbiage that accompanied the chopping!

obpedant in an e-mail address itself i don't add any spaces after the period.

in plain text i add two spaces after the period.

in actual plain text e-mails i add a blank line and two spaces at the beginning of each paragraph.

in posts for forums like this one that format the text i don't add any initial spaces and i think the spaces after the period may be changed from two to one even if i do add them both." " vs " ". ?? yes, even though i typed two spaces in between the first set of "'s it did remove one of those spaces.

You are in good company! I always thought you were supposed to add 2 spaces after a period and yes I used to use a typewriter! Lol!!

i do not use the Oxford comma as i see it does not reflect how i would say it, no pause, no room for that and it is a waste of such a huge effort...

Me too. It may be archaic, but it won't be obsolete until those of us who learned this are dead, and I'm not dead yet.
