Red is fine healthwise, back out mowing, helping grub trees, the whole shebang. Red needs a new VERY SIMPLE cell phone for texting DS asking him to call back. Now he says his phone doesn't always ring with a text or call. I watched his pocket light up while he was talking. Never stopped to check 'cuz he didn't hear a thing. What?

My phone is set to keep alerting me if I get a text, but not if I miss a call. I have almost all alerts turned off. They drive me nuts. I don't want to know about it if there is a lightning strike 5 miles away.
DH is still using a flip phone, and has refused to get a smart phone. He has steadfastly refused a "free" smartphone from his brother, who would use it to keep tabs on him. (texting him all the time) If he ever gets a smart phone, he probably won't even tell his brother.

He needs to set the phone to vibrate. (And maybe have his hearing tested!)
I agree. Vibrate makes more sense than ringing to me. Yes, he has some hearing loss due to a fall from a roof. It shattered his jaw joints, broke his jaw in three places, and took out many of his teeth, so affecting his hearing was easy to understand. That doesn't even address the damage to his hand, leg, and foot. We were lucky he's still alive.

However, I was sitting right next to him. I could see a flashing light up his pocket, but I didn't hear any ringing either. He couldn't see the flashing light.

Glad you are okay, @Smart Red !

I broke my flip phone a while back, awful day.:D Bought a simple cheap samsung - T Mobile compatible, from wally world. It was 19.88, dollars, not year made.
T Mobile has not raised our rate in 10 years, simple talk and text plan. They converted it to unlimited talk and text 2 years ago to thank us for our loyalty. Really we're just cheap. I guess some areas have a problem with T Mobile reception, but it's been good for us in many different States. The main place we lose signal is at my daughters house in WI, of course.

To kids everywhere - Moms love to hear your voice. :)
