Majorcatfish, tell me about the dried squash-how thin/thick does your DW slice it? For squash chips or to re-hydrate later and cook it? And what different ways does your DW cook the squash? I dehydrated some squash last year to make chips, but it went south on me-they never did crisp up, they were flat tasting and DH said :tongue I have replanted the squash, so would be very interested in some helpful pointers on dehydrating squash.

I just started a thread for dehydrator recipes. I posted how the dehydrated hash browns turned out.

I've been thinking about getting a better dehydrator. We just have a simple one with no fan. This morning I mentioned to DH that people on the forum are talking an Excalibur dehydrator, and he replied, "yes, that's the one we're getting". :)

Of course, he hadn't actually ordered it yet, but apparently he's been wanting a bette dehydrator too, because he had already done the research. I'll be interested to hear about things that people are drying. Right now, we just do peppers.

I mainly do herbs (basil, oregano, sage, and parsley), tomatoes, and blueberries. If I get a decent fruit harvest apples and peaches may join that list.
