I was carefully examining my plum tree... something is chewing holes in the leaves. I found some yellow eggs on a plum, and the underside of a leaf. I didn't know what they were- and I killed them!! This morning I look up ladybug eggs, and realize my mistake. Darn! I am so worried about bad bugs- I forgot about the good guys! There was a ladybug on the tree too. Dumb, dumb, dumb!

Lesa, don't be too hard on yourself.

I bet that the squishing of ladybug larvae goes on at a wholesale rate every year.

It is just that they are so darned ugly!! And, people get skeered! There's quite a bit of good that the larvae can do for us - I bet they have better appetites, by far, than their adult selves. Still, they look like insect alligators!!!

We owe it to ourselves, our plants and our ladybug friends to recognize the ladybug larva:

Yes, I did take special note of what the larvae look like, so I won't make that mistake! Just in case I missed a few eggs, and they actually hatch!
