Are you planning to keep it in that bright spot year round, or move it once summer heat picks up? Camellias usually appreciate morning sun with some afternoon protection.

The same story with rhododendrons. If @Rhodie Ranch moved just a couple hundred miles east, she would have to change her name again

Azalea probably work well over there. @annagracer1 , in Waco, I would be at loss to find any thing similar.

My rhodies here that came with the house are sure happy, facing eastward!! The peonies I brought with us are not happy facing west. I've got to remember to move them next winter.
Nice choice, camellias are so rewarding once they settle in. The strawberry plants growing around the base look great too, that's a really good use of the space. As long as the pot's big enough they should be happy together for a while.

I think you're right about the peonies. I had thought about giving my sad dark pink peony to my DD for several years. When I finally dug it up, I felt like I was ripping it out! Somebody had planted this due north of a big maple and so many of the roots were stuck in the tree roots.
Still, after a good week, it seems Very happy, and is in full sun, south side of their house.
