so my little double impatien that snapped right below the leaves... is still growing! how long should I wait till i know it will be ok for sure?
its been a few days now and the new leaves are growing... but i dont want to get my hopes up just in case.... but i did stick it in a peat pot 24 hours
ago..
so here is the pic of the impatien...its the one surounded by my coleus and columbines...

also I just transplanted my painted daisy yesterday too.. its growing all wild and crazy looking...I really like the leaves! they look cool!

and here is my wildflower jungle..it kinda makes me think of an amazon jungle....i cant even imagine what they will look like next month

this is the one that snapped right below the leaves...i soaked in a cup of water for a couple days then stuck the little nub in a peat pot yesterday.

the only thing that concerns me is the first real leaves...are really soft and wilty...are they going to die? all the 2nd and 3rd leaves are good... just the biggest ones are sad

I went ahead and took the plastic liner off the little green house so it gets the air in my whole apartment now. I still have not got a fan, but plan too soon...just had other things interefering lately...

and thanks for the compliment on my tat... I love dragonflies and butterflies...

keep misting the impatiens, don't worry much about its bottom leaves. some would remove them with scissors. let your instincts decide.

lol i think im too new of a seedling grower to have instincts yet... haha but I would say....even tho they are soft and wilty and sad..they are still alive and I think they are still soaking in the growlight to give nutrients to the new leaves
that are growing...? hmm?? orrrrrrr my other thought...if i trim the 2 saddest leaves, maybe the new ones would grow better?? I cant decided...lol you just tell me what to do

Arielle - if I were you I would hold off on cutting the two wimpy leaves. They're still green and may be needed by the plant for the photosynthesis under the artificial sunshine. Later, if they start to turn yellow or brown, I would consider snipping them off. Even if you do loose the entire plant it's good experience.

They are green leave them there. Its probably droopy since the plant lost much of its root base to take up nutrients and water. Its still getting some, but not like it was prior to the accident. So your going to a bit of drooping until a new root system can be regrown.

Let it ride. The plant needs those extra leaves as Smiles mentioned for photosynthesis to be able grow those new roots. Keep an eye on it and soon you won't have ever known it was an issue. If it had a blossom on it then I would have said to prune it so the plant could focus on growth not blooming but it doesn't so I'd just keep it moist and it will be fine in a few weeks.

And then we'll all congratulating you for a propagation well done!

Oh, gotcha...it's working on growing some roots then. It must be taking up water. It looks good to me. Impatiens root really easily.
