Bee, your pup is really cute. I bet he will be a good farm dog and you will train him to behave perfectly!
Penny did pretty well last week. Very well until some people brought in two little sheltie pups after we had started, and they were behind Penny in our walking circle. One of them kept barking at Penny, and she had a real hard time keeping on task. I couldn't blame her much. They were annoying me, too. This week we are working on "down" and "Come Now!"
The trainer said make sure we use "Off!" for jumping up on us, and "down" to get them to lie down. Penny will lie down, and often just rolls over to have her belly scratched. We are also working on "Stay!" which she already knew somewhat.
I have to say the pinch collar is working well. She is a different dog with it on. I still feel that she needs to be able to run and sniff and get crazy, so we do that once every day with her long tie out chain and her regular collar. I don't know if that is appropriate; whether I need to be using a different, more flexible lead/long leash with the pinch collar at play time. She still pulls really hard with her flat collar, and chokes herself. The trainer said to only use the pinch collar for training. I need to make a trip to Petco to see what they have there.
