I bought a blue and a back iris 2 summers ago. No bloom 1st summer as I got them in late. Then I thought they had not made it last summer. To my delight here they are today! It is amazing how velvety black the one is. :love and the blooms are LARGE at least 6 to 8 inches across. So tall , maybe 4 foot! The one fell over so I cut it and brought it indoors to enjoy. The 1st phot is at the neighbors.

Very pretty, Carol Dee.

They are my favorite flower.

The fragrances are so varied but their calming effect on me, from sight and fragrance, is common.

they smell like candy to me. remember those dots on paper of various colors you could get as a kid? you can still find them at some candy stores...

i don't have too many pictures of recent irises to share but what i do have posted is mostly to be found in:

I have probably 100+ black iris. I have moved them, then they spread, then I moved them aGain, and they spread more. Seemed to have lost this purple iris that smelled like grape Kool Aid, so I may have to go shopping for it. I am gonna hit my friends up this summer bc I could use some variety in my iris!

I think this is the iris that smells like grape soda:
Iris Pallida

Anybody here know?
I use to have a handful of them. I think my black iris crowded them out. :hit
I will be a Happy Duckling if I find any left. My batch by the flag pole, north of the garage haven't bloomed yet.

Love the black, we have a couple on the ranch where I work, we have many colors of the purple, and got a few yellows, pinkish, but LOVE the blacks.
