I thought noodles and other pasta lasted pretty much forever. Hmmm.
I think I have told my story here before, about finding an empty can in the back of the pantry......waaayyyy back in the pantry. It used to be pears, but it corroded through the can and either evaporated or a mouse ate it. There was kind of a dark gooey mess around it. :sick

Even rice gets bugs in it. I have had to use dried Bay Leaf in the storage containers before.

One thing, we have had to stop doing ..

. pouring the new bag of flour into the residue of an old bag of flour. We have a small plastic bucket with a very tight lid but must move that "residue" into a separate little container with an imaginary "use first" sign on it. Having weevil problems twice in about 5 years was convincing.

I suppose that the same could happen with pasta but we limit variety and purchases so that it moves to the pot at a fairly good clip. The same is true with rice. These are really our staples. Bread is tossed too often! DW goes a little crazy when passing the bagels and any bread with raisins or blue berries in it .

I buy the 20# bags of Jasmine rice, and it only lasts maybe 6 months.
Flour, I keep in the fridge.
Noodles, we go through frequently enough to not worry about spoilage and bugs.
Other things, I use a grease pen or a sharpie and date and label the containers. No "imaginary" about it ;)
