It seems I need a responsible escort....

What fun! You are really ready for spring now... I really need to avoid the ducks at the feed store. I don't have a pond, but my goodness, those ducklings are adorable!! Must try to stay strong...

We have some little peepers in our garage right now. :) 4 white leghorns and 2 rhode island reds.

Hmmm….I guess I must be the only one immune to chicks LOL. I've raised so many chicks that now when I hear the chicks cheeping at the feed store, all I can hear is a lot of mess and work

Last year I hatched a ton and I think I burned myself out on raising them. At one point about half of my hens were broody and I had to keep hatching them out some chicks to raise (because I wanted specific breeds, not the mutts they would have hatched if left to their own devices). I also hatched a couple dozen turkeys and I'd have to say I had more fun raising those than the chicks. If my turkeys would only start laying this year, I'd fire up the incubators again….

I think my ducks have hidden nests. Last year I got the first duck eggs on Valentine's day but this year….nada. On the other hand, they're spending a lot more time at the pond this year and only coming back at night to fill up at the feeder, so I bet they are laying their eggs down at the pond where they are freezing overnight. Grrr.

...when I go to the feed store for the next few months.:/
I don't know what happened. I was trying to mind my own business and focus on just buying the feed I needed, but noooo, they have to put those crates of chickies right up front!
I walked out with my feed plus 3 of the cutest little Barred Cochin bantams ever!
Throw caution to the wind and just get some new chicks!
