Just a update on Penny's anal gland drama. She survived the cone of shame, and is now pretty much completely healed. She has gone to doggie day care the last two Wednesdays, and she is very glad to have the companionship.
I was worried that her kennel training would be forgotten while she wasn't able to even get in the kennel at night, but the first night without the cone, she went into the kennel to sleep, no problem what so ever.
DH has been walking her occasionally (If I ask him to--still doesn't volunteer anything) but Penny loves it when he does.
I have to say, she is just about a perfect dog. I can't imagine why anyone would dump her.
