'Job hunting' ... or some sort of joke?

As a retired school teacher there is one thing people forget. Though the mantra is 'every child can learn' the truth is some people just have a low IQ.

Who are the "theys" who keep sending folks
to the landfill for non-posted, non-existant applications?
Tell those "theys" to knock it off.

I've done interviewing.
Some people try hard, but honestly have no
clue of the negative impression they make on others.
They just need good advice from someone capable of giving it.
At least they try.

But some could care less.
The attitude goes something like this: "Hey, I'm just here
to get a job.... I didn't come to impress you.... So am I hired
or not? ....Yeah ok whatever!"
And they really thought they had more than a 0% chance of being hired???
We've had a three like this, it does put tension in the room.

However, the vast majority of applicants do make a decent impression of themselves.

I had a ad looking for help, one guy came in not speaking a word of english. The first question he asked though a friend who was translating was "how many paid holidays" Then had a very surprized look when I said no need to go on good bye. Had a friends son come in would have hired him, but his face was covered in tattoos. I am not talking like a small tear drop, but about 70% of his face.

I hear you on that one Nyboy. My DH and I owned a furniture store and had a guy working for us that had lots of tats. We didn't care, but we wouldn't let him wear shorts in the summer. We explained to him that he was going into peoples homes and a lot of them were elderly ladies who might be intimidated by some burly guy in their home covered with tattoos looking like he just got out of prison. (run on sentence--baaaad grammar) Thankfully, he was ok with that and wore long pants. There are a lot of jobs where tattoos just are not very professional looking. I don't care if some one has tats or not, but they should think about where they put them if they are going to be working in a meet-the-public job.

Wandering off topic here, but what is it with women my age (read old) getting tattoos? ugh. Don't they own mirrors?

And the thing with tats is they never get better looking.

I had a coworker who got a tattoo of a rose on her chest. By the time we retired it was a long stemmed rose.
