I had one a tree frog ( non native) moved into one of mine, after he was gone a bird moved in to make a nest. They killed it but I did not want to bother the birds nest! The frog I did indeed dispatch! ;)

ive got two little ones about that size i started from my big one too. the big one used to be grandmothers and i inherited it when she died. she used to let people take pieces from it out of the top and when i brought it here the chickens decided that would make a good nest. what is your big one growing on? why is it growing up high on one side?

The growth like a funnel is the way they collect nutrients, it is there sterile set of leaves. They collect leaves water and such.
It is growing on a wire frame with coconut fiber shell.
