I snapped a pic of this madrona tree today on a hike. I think the peeling bark looks neat!

As a kid, I remember thinking that wherever I was, there were madrone.

It must have been because my world was encompassed by the Pacific and the Cascades, with the Coast Range between.

Always pretty trees ... And yes, there were pine and Douglas fir and white oak and more. But, those manzanita, madrone, madrona branches and trunks stood out and were noticed.
