Maestro peas

Planted peas 4/29/24, today is 44 days been planted. Maturity date is 6/29/24, 61 days. 17 more days till maturity. Some are 4" long now, some are smaller. Some have swollen, some have not.
Pea packet says harvest peas when 4-1/2" long. Guess I'm waiting until pea pods are 4-1/2".
Looking for some feedback on this subject.

yep... goners... early peas are more tender, later they may get bigger but also less sweet and harder. still good either way, just don't let them go too far as then they may start to be a bit bitter (and then leave them to dry and use them as soup peas if that workd for this variety) or for further planting in the coming years.

watch out for chipmunks who can raid and take them...

@hdan You'll know if they're mature by the size of the peas in the pods, they should be filled out and nice and round, not super tiny. Looks like they need to fill out a wee bit more. Pop open a few pods and see what they look like.

I did open up one pea pod this morning for taste test. It was filled out 4" long. I think it could mature a little more. The taste was ok .
Just think it could mature & fill out a little more. All are 4" long & under.
Most are under 4" long.
