Yes all foods are required to list the ingredients. The trouble is they don't differentiate between GMO corn, soy etc. and non GMO. Just presume it's GMO unless they say otherwise. There are more and more companies putting out non GMO products. People are getting the message.

People buying what they want (non-GMO, non-hybrid, etc) is all part of the American economy. If you are willing to pay for the extra costs, I applaud you and say go for it.

I have major problems when people champion buying slave labor products over American because of something they ignore on the slave labor countries.

Non GMO crops are primarily grown in the US, Europe and India (which has banned GMO food crops). None of these are what you refer to as slave labor countries.

Was referring to using white sugar over corn syrup. White sugar is grown/processed in slave labor countries. Pretty sure India does not observe child labor, OSHA, patents or any other labor laws.

I decided to write back:

"Dear Congressman Sir,

I am very disappointed in your response as I don't see things your way, and you can't expect me to change my views from a short generic response like that. I do not believe there is anything natural or ok with GMO plants. I believe these high levels of resistance to bugs are unnatural and they won't allow resistance forever. Things adapt to the situation, they grow MORE resistance, they, in nature, mutate. I believe these high yields of product are hurting the farmer because you are saying, its ok that as a 'superpower' of food in the world, we should produce more so people pay less. Now farmers are working and spending more to grow more each year, to break even. These are not rich well paid people, obviously you left agriculture to do something better for the communities... but I don't think that is happening. You left the community behind.

With no diversity in food, without actually paying for quality, Monsanto, McDonald's, Burger King, coca-cola, Walmart and all these great companies will continue to grow unobstructed by laws and codes. Though the potential for growth is great in the country, it is becoming limited in whom is allowed to grow. The American people are growing by leaps and "Pounds" though. Cheap food and genetically modified crops are not the solution. It just makes MORE for LESS. Cheap food is making for expensive healthcare. Now it appears, the only winners are the 1% who are lining their pockets with profits from others' suffering.

With that said, all I ask if you are kind enough to label products for those of us who care. Because I care, because my friends and family care... I took the time to write you.

I would appreciate it, if you had any 'scientific proof' as you stated would sway your decision that you would send me copy. I kinda like to know someone who wants my vote is taking the time to share what he 'knows' with the people, and not what he 'thinks'. I know what I think, and I am YET to find another but opinions from everywhere and not one lick of 'proof' in writing.

Still Concerned,

Mrs. Shannon Fogl"
Wooohooo! You go girl! :celebrate

Thank you LadyHawk for that link.

I am still yet to get a response from our congressman on the reply. I knew in my heart he would not even take the time to tell someone in his office to do it. I've spoke my mind, I was told it was 'noted' and now I must move on to harrass someone else until someone else cares. :D

Yes, I know, I am extremely disappointed... I have a clear view on where my state is headed! :(
Hey! Call his office and tell them what your concerns are. Tell them that his letter to you did not answer your concerns.

If while on the phone you feel that they are not taking you seriously or are not listening to you, or if they talk DOWN to you... ..you at that time tell them that you will vote the booger out of office.

You also tell them, that you will make sure that your ORGANIZATION hears about your treatment, and that you will work and encourage others to only vote for those who are actually working on your behalf. HE WORKS FOR YOU. HE IS YOUR PUBLIC SERVANT. Your taxes pay his salary.

We have to get any other solicited monies out of politics or your vote and mine will mean nothing because only the large corporations will have the money to support them. They dance only with the ones that brung them. Capiche?

Remember, as hard as it is, always be polite and non- threatening. You have a right to complain about any policies, procedures, and non-compliance as any other employer does. :duc

I want to tell a story of what happened to me this weekend:

I had a lovely accidental meeting on Sunday. At a party with my child and lots of other children, I met a mother. Someone who works for a company that is connected and working with Monsanto. From our conversation it went from my friend's lovely little garden, to my chickens, to the fact the Monsanto is her boss... she is not allowed to watch 'Food, Inc' and can not be found on any membership list to anyone apposing the company or she would lose her job. To end the conversation, she said we needed to change the subject or end the conversation, as she's not even supposed to be talking to me!!!!!! th

This company is beyond.... I don't even have words... they control people's views to the point of making them stupid, all by threatening their jobs!!! rant
