digit's,
You have some kind of scarecrow there I see  .
That is a picture of Beavis' garden, Greenthumb.

Sven, I think Beavis calls him. Obviously, more than just a scare crow.

Works nights, you can see that by the pallor.

Yes, my mistake Beavis is not a scarecrow ;) .

Is it Champion there on the end with all the fruit, Beavis? And, did all the plants set fruit well after things warmed up?
Yes and yes Steve.......

And you are correct, Sven does all of the behind scenes work here on the farm....

Those are some seriously huge plants you got there, whats the secret?
I wish I knew for sure.

Some of these tomatoes went in in Brrrr....February!

They endured an extremely rare snow storm, survived and lived to thrive. Many of the plants just sat there and sulked a bit, waiting for the proper weather conditions.

I do think the (half-composted) horse manure I added to the raised beds, no doubt laden with ample reserves of nitrogen fueled the leafy growth of these plants.

I was actually quite concerned that I would get mucho tomato plant growth, but with little or no fruit to show this year.

The jury is still out but I can see many ripening fruit...

beavis, did you get those seeds by trading your milk cow on the walk home from market? I don't think anyone has visited the beanstalk giant in a loooong time, UNTIL NOW! Can I go with you?

Very nice plants there Beavis! We've been using hore manure compost (in various stages)the tomatoes seem to love it and there have been no issues of all foliage and no fruit. The no fruit years are weather related not compost related.

Have you noticed that by the end of the growing season all that compost seems to disappear? I guess that's the sign of good microbial activity making things work. Great blog you seem to be doing a great job! By the way what variety is the tallest tomato in the picture? :D
