There's plenty for the elk and where the bighorn live and eat no horse can go. I agree, stop managing what doesn't need managing. When a horse limping we/someone goes out on horse back and helps, sometimes it just a bruse times the horses needs convalescing at a friends ranch, when taken back to the band you should see the welcome, the joy.
People do adopt the rounded mustangs, to save them from a trip to Mexico.

The BLM has a large budget and they want to keep getting it.

This colt, umbig [little cloud] seen here with our daughter, no longer lives with us but with his small band at the ranch of a family in Arizona.

Once apon a time, but born at our place in the mountains. We went to look at them at a ranch in California. I think there was 6 in the band, standing in mud up to their knees, we brought them all home, cost us $1500 but they threw in the horse trailer. Took us a year to get their hoves in shape poor babies had foot rot and slipper footed. The girls painted their frogs with iodine and gotron[ pine tar med] every day for, I forgot how long.

Good idea,I will put it on POW maybe people would like to see it.

Yes, frogs. On a horse, the frog is part of the hoof. It is a soft area in the center with the hard part that we think of as hoof, around it. Since it touches the ground, it can become infected if the horses are in standing water or mud for a prolonged period of time.

Carol, you may be old enough to remember wearing frogs on your clothing as well. I haven't seen them for a while, but they actually do work a bit better than buttons.
