My cherry tree has buds

I planted a cherry tree last fall. I was worried about because it was really nothing more than a stick. But I checked it and it has buds starting. Maybe I wont lose it after all.

Sounds like it's on its way to me! When blossoms start coming it, it will be absolutely heavenly.

I really cant wait for the fruit, but I know I have a few more years before it produces any.

Plant more cherry trees. If I remember right you have to have them in pairs for them to fruit. I think they cross pollinate. This may not be the case for all varieties. I remember my mother getting so frustrated when I was a girl after her cherry tree didn't produce fruit for years. She finally called our local extension and they told her this was why. The tree grew big and beautiful with lots of blooms, but never any fruit.

I've read that too. But the tree I bought had a label on it that said it self pollinates. I wish I could remember the type of cherry.
