We grow our own delicious zuchinni- We give the hens the really large ones, that we can't use for anything. They love it so much! I know... It's not gardening season anymore. :( Those girls are gonna miss their zuchinni!

They especially love the ones large enough to contain big seeds if you split it for them.

All those sorts of things are popular with hens:

Zucchini
Cucumbers
Melons

Under the right circumstances, I think they'd almost be willing to kill for 'em!

Yeah, they sure like those things. I've never tried giving them watermelon yet.

I use to cut up the large cucs for my hens until this year when I was running late for work. Just threw a few big cucs out to see what they would do--when I got home from work, all that was left was shell/skin. I will have to remember zucchini.

I gave watermelon to the chickens during the hot spells. Got culls from a guy down the road from us for free. I refridgerated them and gave to the the birds when I got home from work. The hottest time of the day.

They would eat down until the rind was paper thin. Fun to watch.

Watermelon is very popular here. We let the last zucchinis get huge, and put a few in the basement to dole out to the chickens in the colder weather. They like thether-ball cabbage too!

I gathered up pumpkins from after the Halloween lots closed (with permission). I split one occasionally for the hens, along with a watermelon (I had a bunch volunteer again, they never get ripe). The old watermelons are tossed in a drift along the run fence.

My sneaky hens (the 4 old originals) love to get loose and make a beeline for the collards.

My hens eat up everything.

They especially loved the cucumbers during the hot summer months.

I would also give them the watermelon rinds that were leftover.

Bananas are extremely high on their delicacy list!

:)
