My fabulous corn

My corn is huge this year. We over planted the 2nd crop so are cooking, cutting and freezing every night. This is what organic corn looks like. No pesticides, fungicides or herbicides.. We see an occasional corn borer. However, I think you need to fear what you can't see rather than the occasional worm. No it will not keep in the fridge for 2 weeks like the corn bought in the grocery store.

Going to miss having corn in the freezer this winter. I did not go put any to put up and our usual source ever called with the offer to come pick al we want before it goes to waste. Not sure he even planted any this year.

looks soooo good, now I want a feed of corn on the cob, the best we can do this year is take a run out to one of the local farms and pick up a few cobs. Seriously thinking of putting a little corn patch in next year.

That's beautiful, of course. It's a rough life having to eat corn fresh from the garden like that, isn't it. Oh the sacrifices some of us make. Yeah, right.

I planted four batches this year, spread out about two weeks each. I don't spray it either. My first batch looked a lot like that, very little worm damage. My second batch had a fair amount of worm damage but I got real nice cannings out of both and the chickens really enjoyed the worms and the ends I cut off. A raccoon pretty much destroyed my third batch before I got the raccoon. My fourth batch was pretty badly eaten up, some problems with rats as well as worms. Since I had enough already canned I froze that and will use it in soup.

We were eating fresh corn from the garden for most of two months this summer, some on the cob, some off the cob if it was eaten on much. Either way I don't think you can beat corn picked just before it is cooked.

if does not have a worm or 2... it's not organic... beautiful looking corn
