I just got my first OFFICIAL sincere youre old from a teenager. :/

I serve in the sound booth at church - helping out the band and choir and recording sermons and special events, etc.
This morning, the music director sent an email asking if we could pull some of the DVDs of the music programs for her to use at an event in a few weeks. I suggested that we might be able to edit highlights from them into one DVD and asked the 17yr old that Ive been training in the booth if he could show me how to do that (different/new-to-me program).
He responded that he would put something together for her as soon as he had time.
I said that Id really like to learn.
He said that after we get into the new building in Sept he would teach me because hes going to have to teach me how to use the mac, then the program, and Melodie only has till 8/14
Basically Its going to take SOOO much to teach you this, lets wait till a better time.
First there was an ouch.
Then I got mad.
Hes not the ONLY person who can make a video! Ill figure it out on my own, thank you very much you little whippersnapper!!

sounds like he has a little bit of arrogance to himself :rant !!! I the when kids act like they know more than the adults.... I've had a few in my time treat me like that. My finest hour is to show them that I can figure things out too....:plbb.

Good for you canesisters!!!! I probably would have slapped him. :smack

Do you remember when you were a teenager and could solve the worlds problems? It was so easy and basic. These thoughts were totally new. Nobody had ever thought of them before. These old folks were just stupid and dumb to have never thought of these simple solutions to everything. I grew up just ahead of the dont trust anybody over 30 generation but had friends and relatives a few years younger. Some were really devastated when they realized they were 30.

Isn't it funny how we 'box' things up? I remember the first time I filled out some survey and had moved up to the 30-50yr old box. Also remember the first time I was filling out a from and realized there wasn't a box for me: single, married , divorced... I drew a box and wrote widow. (they made me start over and mark 'single'.... heartless DMV :smack )
There should be a box for 'I'm just me' or 'I'm still trying' or 'not done yet' :p

One day my nephew and his friend came over to my house, when they didn't remove their hats inside I pointed out that was rude. My nephew who is 24 said thats no longer true I was just old. I said then he was going to be very embarrassed when he got his a$$ kicked by a old man. Both took off their hats.

It's funny how we carry that image of ourselves as a younger us. We are still that same person, it's just the hardware that's needing a little more grease and warmup.

I got my first senior discount when I was just down visiting my folks. On Thursdays they go out for lunch at a casino that has a senior special. As we prepared to order mom told me I qualified. What?? I'm surely not old enough.... but I was, or AM. :/
Well it's about time I said. So there I was, a new initiate into old...

Good for you Cane, for figuring it out on your own. You're not old, you're just hitting your stride!

When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years. ~ Mark Twain

There is an attribution for that but I haven't looked in any Atlantic Monthly magazines from the year, 1874.

I believe it takes longer than reaching the age of 21, at least it does in more recent times.

When VIDEOTAPE computer editing first came out I took 2 graduate level classes to learn how to do it. Being a computer phobe at the time I was able to overcome my fears and produce some excellent videos for my art program and school system. My first was given an award by a local cable TV station. I was given a computer for my classroom equipped to do video editing and I made a club for interested students. It took about 15 minutes for the 12 year olds to master the program and create artistic videos in all manor of fantastic. Yes the same thing that took me 2 courses to master. As older adults our brains are much more cluttered with knowledge than young people. Hahahahahaha

This is too funny. Last month I got an email telling me I qualified for a senior discount at the Fabric store. But they kept proclaiming 55 is not OLD. That is just the age we can start using the discount. Well *Gee* I think*why didn't you tell me sooner so I could have been using my discount for the past 2 years!!!!*
I just came from the grocery store where I bumped into a new employee that I KNOW from the 6 years he rode my bus and attended the elementary school I served his lunch every day for 6 years! And where his sisters still attend. I sit in the same pew EVERY Sunday with his Grandparents, I remember his 1st day of kindergarten and that it was his birthday and there where balloons on the mailbox when I brought him home. So he is now 20 something and bearded, yet looks the same! So why could I NOT remember his name. The little poop made me figure it out on my own. :smack It took forever, Finally I remembered his sister's name and his Grandparents names and his... but was still stumped on the last name. UNTIL I walked out to the lot and opened the door to the van.... I rushed back in to tell him I REMEMBER but he was off working somewhere.
He doesn't know it but, he will PAY! :D Now that I got it he will be tormented and teased every time I see him at the store!
Yep, getting old is FUN.
