Thanks Rosalind. I'll be on the lookout for rabbits. I do plan to sprinkle out some flower tonight hoping to see prints. And if I do, I will be setting traps tomorrow (sorry rabbit, but they will be lethal traps).

Be of good cheer, my pole beans suffered the same attack, but they came back and were fine. It just took longer.

Hope yours survived!

I lost mostly all of my first batch of bean seedlings too. I went out in the morning and found nothing but bare stems. It looked just like something came along with a weed wacker and just knocked off the tops of the plants, leaving a bare stem. I found out it was SNAILS and have been doing battle with them eversince. However, they don't bother my cucs, tom or squash. I guess they don't like the fuzzy, prickly stems. Its a full-on war here with the snails for everything else in the garden though.
