Im about to loose it!
Ga had a lot of rain here lately while I was gone on vacay and a few days after. When I came home I noticed the pot with my HT and Gerber Daisys was OVER FLOWING with water. I dumped it out after it stopped raining.

Over the days it the leaves are getting darker and darker and stinkier and stinkier..
I tipped it over and left it on its side for a few mins to drain the water yesterday but I came out this morning to find its mushier.

How do I dry it out faster? Im going to loose it to root rot I feel!!

I have another question..

When should I bring it inside?
My temps are dropping down into the 50s during the night now.
Plus from the flooding ALL the branches are brown. Even the new growth..

and...
Should I go ahead and prune it for next year? It has kind of gotten an odd shape to it now.

Hibiscus will freeze to the ground here but the roots stay warm enough to come back. That is here is the semitropics. Not sure were you are at but if the roots are water logged and is killing the plant now would be a good time to dig it up. Prune away rotting roots and sick leaves. Pot it up and baby it near a south facing window.

I am sure others will say I am wrong but this is what I would do!

best of luck to you and your plant.

hibiscus rot really easily. you need to put a hole in the bottom of the container, pronto. or either just repot it all together. prognosis doesnt sound good... pic?

Camera broke the other day..

All the leaves withered and dried. I pulled them all off and brought the tree inside (it is already in a pot).

I saw new growth that wasnt rotting so that is a good sign, right?

I did not know it was in a pot.
I would yank it out of that pot and see what is going on.
Drainage sounds like it could be one of your troubles.
New growth is good! I look at it as a cutting if the mother plant dies!

Ill need alot of help pulling it out. Its heavy!

The new growth is SO small I dont think you could do a cutting from it.
I wish I would have known cuttings were easy. I just lightly trimmed my tree a few weeks ago..

Since its looking like it is do you think it would hurt it anymore to do a good trimming?
Maybe new growth could start from?

well not sure what to tell you.
If it has a saucer under it take it off, lay the plant down again and check for proper drainage. If it is holding water drill some holes in the pot. It could be root bound with roots covering the drain holes.

It is hard to say without looking at it. If you plan on bringing it inside I don't think cutting it back will hurt.

It also could have built up salts from fert. after you make sure it is draining good, flood the pot for 5 minutes or so to flush out built up minerals and such. Then let the soil dry out again before next watering.
