I saw this fruit today while hiking and i think it might be black currant berries. The only thing that is different from typical black currant is that the outer skin of the berry is dull rather than shiny. Anyone know about this plant?

Interesting. In the UK, the name gooseberry always refers to Ribes uva-crispa and is a very commonly grown garden fruit.
