New from TX

thanks, it works great.
and in Texas, it is nice to have a place that is a bit out of the sun for some things too, until the cucumbers get so dense that no light gets through at all.

in the really hot/arid climates this type of technique is a way to grow some plants and to shade and give a wind block to those plants below or next to, plus any extra stuff trimmed/pruned off can be used for mulches.

grapes are popular because they can get pretty deep roots so they will survive dry spells, but also because they make good arbor/trellis plants and who can resist nice hanging clusters of grapes? :)
