Eh, getting him off the meds helped, for sure. But at 15 years old and after 5 years of living in a shelter you're bound to be a little neurotic! I think it just took him a while to settle in. I also think what helped him understand that "outside is where we go to the bathroom" is that I cleaned and cleaned the house extensively every time it happened. And used cleaners specifically for removal of pet odors, so that the house smelled "clean" to him and outside smelled like the potty spot. At the very least it helped me feel like the house didn't smell!!
