Okay, Lesa! "Mere mortal" Steve here!

These dahlias aren't open but I needed to have something to upset you with . . .

This one is "Show 'n' Tell" and I remember that only because that's what I'm always doing with it on here:

This is a large red that I'm fond of. It is a very special variety - I call them "that large red that I'm fond of" (but, it's a little short right now):

Maybe I can do better after a day or 2. Another cool front has moved in so I don't know when there will be a little more color in the dahlia garden :/. I'm sorry that I won't know the name of 99% of them, anyway .

Well Steve...I'm not lesa, but wow! That "Show 'n' Tell is a beauty! So, so pretty. What an amazing color. You are blessed for sure to be able to grow such wonderful flowers. Great job!

Excuse me!!!! You are not in the "mere mortal" category!! Those are lovely ones, Steve! Do you have many of the dinner plate varieties? I am really tempted by them. They are really show stoppers! Looking forward to more "show and tell" as your blooms begin to open!

I'm wondering why the Show 'n' Tell that is opening now is more orange than Christmas red like this one from about the 1st of August, last year:

I have Kelvin Floodlights again and one or the other of these is my largest dahlia, Lesa. They are dinnerplate size.

Wow! Those are beautiful, Steve! How long is the bloom period for dahlias? I had some the first year we moved into this house, but I think the heat got them????

I couldn't leave them in the ground thru the winter, Skeeter. These are the very 1st blooms for me and they will continue right up until 1st frost - with more and more flowers until the cold slows and stops them.

It is a very special variety - I think of them as "raspberry parfait" (but, have no idea what they are really called ). If it wasn't for people like Rusty keeping track of things like this for us, dahlias would just wind down to nuthin' - maybe a food crop, as Mr. Dahl had imagined .
